Here's 3 ways to get prepped and make sure you get the most from your first session:
-
Think about your goals
Despite what you might read, there’s no one right way to manage your money. It all depends on what’s important to you and what you want to achieve. As one of our wise coaches Phil Aspden once said “Money itself won’t make us happier – it’s what we do with it that counts”.
That’s what your first session is all about. Discussing where you are now and what you want to do next. It’s a space for you to think deeper about your money and work out what’s really important to you. That way, we can help you work out a plan that gets you to where you want to be.
Top Tip! This is pretty personal stuff, so it’s really important to find a place you can talk comfortably. If you’re at work, book a meeting room or call booth. If you’re at home, make sure you’ve got a quiet place without too many distractions.

Take the time to share your info
By sharing information about your current money situation – how much you’re being paid, any savings or credit cards that you have – we can help identify any areas in need of a bit of TLC.
The “big questions” are things that we will need time to dig into so that we are able to provide you with really personalised ideas for what you can do – but the little straight forward questions might be something you can get answered straight away.
Top Tip! We’ll send you a form to fill in with your details before your first session begins. This helps us get up to speed before you meet us, so you can get the most from your time with us. Can’t find the form? Send us an email
Please note: If you joined Octopus Money from OpenMoney or evestor, we're not set up to offer you our coaching service right now. But please bear with us – we'll let you know how you can get started once this does come available. If you're particularly interested in this service, and understanding how else we can help support you with your money, drop us an email to support@octopusmoney.com and a member of the team will be happy to help.
