Finding your statement
Your Evestor/OpenMoney closing statement is stored in the notifications of your Octopus Money account. First, you need to log in to your account.
At the top of the screen, in the navigation bar, you'll see three lines in the top right hand corner (on mobile), or 'notifications' (on desktop).
Choose 'notifications' and find the one titled 'Valuation Statement' from the start of January.
Understanding your statement
Your final statement shows the transactions and activity on your investment account, from 1st October 2023 up until your account was transferred over to Octopus Money on 13th December 2023.
This would usually be your quarterly statement however, as your investments were moved during the quarter, it shows all of the activity until this point in time.
There is some important information enclosed, so do store this document somewhere securely.
The statement is in 2 main sections:
- Account Summary - This section shows the cash movements on your OpenMoney/evestor account between 1st October and 13th December. This will always show a balance of £0 on 13th December, as any investments and cash were moved over to Octopus on the 12th December.
(The statement might show a negative figure alongside ‘Value of Account after movements listed’ above. Please don't panic about this figure, it is simply showing the impact of your investment returns over the timeframe.)
To find the final full value (£) of your portfolio when it was transferred to Octopus Money, look for the line titled ‘Money Paid Out’.
However, please note that your investments were transferred to Octopus Money ‘in-specie.’ This means that none of your investments were sold or “cashed in” as part of your transfer – they remained invested in the market during the whole transition. When we completed your transfer, we moved the exact number of units you owned in each fund into your new account. These funds remained invested, which means their value continued to go up and down with the market. As a result, you won’t see the exact same ‘Money Paid Out’ value listed in the transaction history of your Octopus Money account. Again, that’s because the value (£) of your investments goes up and down all the time.
So if your investments performed well during this time, you’ll see an increase in their value, and if they didn’t do so well you’ll see the amount has decreased. But rest assured, your Octopus Money account was opened with the exact number of units you held with Evestor/OpenMoney.
If you’d like to see the exact number of units you hold in each fund, you’ll be able to see this in your quarterly statements from Octopus Money. - Account Statement - The second section shows a slightly more detailed version of the first. It shows the transfer of each of your funds and the values of these at the time of the transfer, as well as any fees which were taken while you were an evestor/OpenMoney customer.
Again, this table will end with a £0 balance, as this cash was moved to your new Octopus Money account, along with your investments, on 12th December.
You'll see this information reflected in your Octopus Money account, as per the example below. To see this, log in to your account. On your homepage, click on 'view details' next to the value of your account.
On your account details page, click on 'Transactions' – and you'll see the transaction history and value of your funds at the point they were transferred to your new Octopus Money account.
